DRIVE project results from the season 2018/19 were published in Vaccine journal 7 in August 2020, under the heading Vaccine effectiveness against laboratory-confirmed influenza in Europe.

The results presented correspond to the second influenza season covered by the DRIVE network. The DRIVE network estimated IVE using data from nine test negative design (TND) study sites that included: 400 primary care physicians (including pediatricians); 12 hospitals in six countries; and one cohort study based on linked national registers in Finland.

While sample size from the pooled TND studies was still too low for precise (brand-specific) IVE estimates, the network has approximately doubled in size compared to the pilot season (from four to nine sites, and from ca. 5000 to ca. 9350 subjects).
